Lent 2020

During the season of Lent, we will use the ELCA World Hunger's Forty Days of Giving. We will experience how the grace of Christ moves us to engage in transformative works of love around the world as God calls us into the ministry of hope, liberation, and restoration. Journey into Lent as we explore the connections between our faith and our shared ministry to end hunger and poverty.

$2 ($80 total for Forty Days of Lent) is more than what 10% of people around the globe live on. If you can spare $2 a day as a Lenten offering, this will be a powerful reminder of what our neighbors in need face every day.

$200 is enough to provide a community with the critical resources needed to significantly reduce food insecrutiy, such as agricultural toots, supplies, and training.

$2500 is the average amount needed to provide a community with a simple water well and access to clean drinking water.

Again, for daytime midweek Lenten services, we will use a spoken service format. This year, for evening midweek Lenten services, we will use the new (to us) "Unfailing Light" Evening Prayer setting, by Susan Briehl and Marty Haugen (who also wrote Hoiden Evening Prayer). United in Faith's choir has been learning it in preparation for our evening Lenten services.
