Dear Friend,
Welcome to United in Faith! United in Faith is a community of united disciples offering gifts to the world that can be found no place else. This congregation seeks to be a community united in Christian discipleship that offers numerous gifts that can be found no place else. We see ourselves as a diverse and wide-ranging community. Here you will find young and old, male and female, gay and straight. The people who call United in Faith their spiritual home come from a wide range of faith backgrounds, the largest of which is Roman Catholic. We reflect a wide range of socio-economic realities. We want to reflect the community that is around us. As a community faith, we are rooted in the theology, worship, and practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). United in Faith seeks to offer gifts to the world around us. United in Faith is both a ministry center and a community center. We have listened to the community and its needs. As a result, we partner with and host a wide range of community activities, including St Cyprian's food pantry, Golden Diners senior program, a variety of support groups, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. Additionally, we serve as a polling center, and I serve as a Chaplain in the Illinois Army National Guard. As a congregation, we offer worship on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., Sunday school, confirmation, and a high school ministry. Faith development opportunities are a regular part of the ministry, and a new choir program is being developed for people of all ages by our new choir director. There are numerous ministry opportunities available throughout the congregation. United in Faith is deeply rooted in the Ministry of Word and Sacrament. Almost every day there is something interesting and important taking place! All of these ministries and the people working to make them happen prove that the gifts of United in Faith to be found no place else. This really is an interesting and unique ministry. Having served as Pastor for seven years, I am certain that your gifts and skills will be welcomed into our ministry. This is a complex and dynamic place and ministry. I encourage you to take some time and become familiar with the wonderful things God is doing in and through this place.
