Pastor Greg's Welcome!

Welcome to United in Faith!

“That you may have life and have it abundantly” John 5:5

In many ways United in Faith is all about life.  This community of faith exists to connect people to a deeper and more fulfilled experience of life.  We do that by being God’s hands, feet, and voice in the world. All that we do exists to help people experience the life that God intends, a life filled with grace and hope.

The culture around us offers us all kinds of life.  Some of that life is joyful, rewarding, and worth having: a nice house, an education, and a classy car that moves in style.  As followers of Jesus we want our lives to be meaningful and successful as well. For people of faith, that means living a life that is connected to God through Jesus Christ.   These past years of economic and social challenge remind us that a life that is true, meaningful, and authentic is not always rooted in the obvious. A house can become a burden.  Student loan debt can delay the rewards of education.  Even a stylish car requires expensive repairs.  Credit card debt can keep growing and weigh us down. The life that God’s church points towards is not necessarily the kind of life that our culture would recognize or lift up as the path to follow.  The path of life we choose is one of discipleship.  We seek to follow Jesus!

So what kind of life will you find at United in Faith?

  • An urban church pointing to life by tackling the challenges of hunger, exclusion, addiction, and abuse
  • A congregation with a lively sense of community
  • A community of faith with meaningful worship
  • ·A place where you can grow your faith
  • A setting where you can serve
  • An accepting and welcoming people

What is the life we offer the community around us that is so critically important?  That life is a life rooted firmly in God’s love.  Such a life is rooted in meaningful worship. It is a life that thinks of others.  This is a life that seeks to serve.  Life rooted in God’s grace seeks to leave God’s creation a better place.  It is a life that requires you to love your neighbor as yourself.  It isn’t all about you, but about what God is doing in the world.

We invite you to come and experience the life that God points us to through Jesus Christ.  We cannot offer you a slick worship experience with lights and lots of drama, a ‘cool’ Jesus experience, or all the latest in Jesus wear.  We can, however, offer you a community that is authentic in seeking to reflect God’s love, and if you’re open to it, a life that is connected to God through Jesus.  We welcome you!

Your servant,

Pr. Gregory C. Moser
